Designing A Business Card

I didn't realize just how picky I would be about my business cards.

I always figured that I would like a plain white with black text with a monogram and that was it, but after looking at all the styles, patterns, edging, and finishes I can't decide!

Too many combinations! Exciting though that I have this much variety and this much freedom to choose what I want :)

Youtube Videos

So do you ever have those random moments when an idea just pops into your head? Well I have been having quite a few of those, all wedding related. Haha! How odd is that? I just randomly get ideas for weddings while doing mundane things like washing dishes or watching TV.

Well I have had quite a few ideas and I wasn't quite sure how to convey them. Should I do a blog post? Should I do a written tutorial? Nope, I have decided I am going to do videos :)

Stay tuned!!

Keep On Truckin'

The road is tough but I gotta keep on pushing like a little stubborn bull dozer truck.
Marketing myself has been a fun experience. I now realize that there is a fine line between self promotion and showing sincerity, against sounding like a shady used car salesman.
I just hope that people recognize that my work speaks for itself and that I am great at what I do.
On a side note: the Lunar New Year is coming up! Gong Hai Fat Choi (sorry for the butchered Chinese-English translation) I really do hope this new year will bring joy and prosperity to all my loved ones :)

Eczema sucks!

GAH! I hate having eczema! It is so irritating, and itchy, and dry, and yucky, and GAH such an annoyance.

Lotions, creams, prescription salves, nothing seems to get rid of it. SO ITCHY!!!!!! The funny thing is that it only seems to be localized on my right hand. Weird.

Anyway, I just wanted to complain :P

It is going to be a battle

I have been working hard to spread the word about my new business to family and friends and I have been receiving quite a few questions and comments. Though I do feel the love and support it comes with an undertone of concern.

I understand that leaving the security of a full-time job is unsettling and I do understand that this particular field of the wedding industry that I am entering into isn't exactly the most secured, but I need to follow what I enjoy and what I know I am good at.

I am scared, and I am frustrated, but at the same time I am excited and anxious to get this going.

I have to keep trying and keep pushing forward to make things work.

Traffic tickets -_-

I feel like I have the worst luck when it comes to traffic tickets.

Everyday, as I am driving down the congested freeways of Southern California I see drivers weave in and out of traffic, talk on their cell phones or text while driving, drive in the carpool lane when they aren't supposed to, you know, stuff that is a pretty serious offense and would definitely warrant a ticket. But no, last month I get a ticket for "refusing to pay a toll" because my transponder accidentally didn't go off. Seriously???? CHP you are giving me a ticket that is going to cost $240 for a $2.75 toll????

Even when explaining to the officer that my transponder is indeed working and I am a responsible toll road user he writes me the ticket anyway all the while explaining that if I contest the ticket the judge will most likely dismiss the ticket. ......THEN WHY ARE YOU WRITING ME A TICKET IN THE FIRST PLACE???

*sigh* well either way I just paid my "bail amount" and have my court trial next month. All of this trouble and headache for a $2.75 toll that I wanted to pay for.

Oh well. Life goes on :)

Thanks so much!

I would like to thank you all for your love and support through this crazy time.

It is definitely scary to try to start your own business. I struggled with the decision of throwing myself full time into event planning for a LONG TIME. Leaving the security blanket of a 9-5 job is, at times, terrifying to me, but I have to have faith and try my best to achieve the dream or I will regret it for the rest of my life.

Even though I have expressed my terror openly with my family and friends they have shown me nothing but support and encouragement. From reassuring my fears to offering their help, i feel nothing but love from my friends and family.

Thank you guys so much!!

Welcome!

Hello!!

I am SO excited to start this blog!!!

I finally did it. I made the jump and I am starting my own business and working towards achieving my dream of being a wedding and event planner.

For those of you who know me personally you all know that I have always had a passion for event planning. Whether it be coordinating family gatherings to helping friend's with their own weddings, as well as planning my own wedding I have always thrown myself into planning and coordinating whole heartedly.

After working years in IT my heart has always belonged to helping people plan their special events. Just ask my friends, they have often noted that I plan a little bit too much :P

Well anyway, I hope you all enjoy reading a little bit about my life and getting to know me a little more.

Some things to look forward to:

Wedding DIY tutorials
Money saving tips and tricks
Helpful FYIs
Vendor spotlights
Pictures and excerpts about my kids (my cat and dog)

and much more :)

Thanks for visiting and check back often for more :)
